The new law introduced this week requires that the offspring of those who are older than 60 to visit their parents frequently and meet their parents’ demands both financially and spiritually. According to the report by the Xinhua News Agency on Tuesday, a 77-year-old lady from Wuxi, Jiangsu Province sued her daughter for neglecting her. It was the first case after the law came into effect. The local court ruled that the daughter naught to visit her mother twice a month and support her mother financially. However, the new law has caused controversy recently. Some people hold that it would lead to much more pressure on those who are far away from their home because of work, study or other reasons.
